The Pangarchulla peak trek is an amazing climbing spot near the Kuari Pass. The Pangarchulla peak is approximately 14,700 feet above the sea-level and you can find a lot of snow till late May. The difficulty level to climb the peak varies according to the month you choose to trek. The best time to climb the Pangarchulla peak would be from April to May. This trek will give you loads of trekking experience and will bring you a step closer to attempting more difficult treks in the Himalayas. Winters will be one of the best times to trek to the Pangarchulla peak as the snow makes the region look stunning. The expedition will begin from the picturesque hill station of Auli which is known for its ski slopes. Enjoy the beauty of the breath-taking views of mighty Nanda Devi from the Auli campsite. We start our trek to the Khulara base camp through thick forests, meadows and a small summit called the Gorson top. The trail to Pangarchulla peak will treat you with the best views of Himalayas. Some of the mighty peaks can be seen on the way like Nilkanth (11,398 ft), Narayan Parbat (10,244 feet), Mana peak (23,858 ft), Kamet (25,446 ft), Abi Gamin (24,130 ft), Nilgiri Parbat (8,652 ft), Rataban (14766 ft), Gauri Parbat (22,008 ft), Hathi Parbat (22,070 ft) and Dunagiri (23,182 ft). When you reach the top, you will see the awe-inspiring peaks of the Himalayas and the confluence of many rivers. If you are lucky, you might get to spot the footprints of either the Himalayan Bear or Leopard.

Pangarchulla Peak Trek Itinerary

Day 01 - Drive from Haridwar/Rishikesh to Joshimath

Pick up from Haridwar/ Rishikesh and drive to Joshimath. Today’s journey is about 260 km long and takes around 10 hours. The drive is beautiful from Haridwar to Joshimath as the route is along tributaries of the Holy River Ganga. Joshimath is a hub for pilgrim tourists traveling to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib. Overnight in guest house at Joshimath.


Day 02 - Drive from Joshimath to Dhak, Trek to Gulling Top

Today we drive from Joshimath to Dhak village and the journey is about 12 kms. From Dhak village we trek for about 6 kms and the trail is mostly a mix of steep and gradual ascent. We trek through beautiful villages en route and also get to see hemlock, oak and rhododendrons. After trekking about 3 kms through the trail there is a short descend to the meadows and campsite at Chitra Kantha (3310m). The impressive snow-capped ridge, including Chaukhamba 1 (7138m), can be seen beyond Joshimath. You can see shepherds  grazing flocks of sheep and goats throughout summer. There is a small spring line at the head of the meadow for replenishing your water supply.


Day 03 - Trek from Gulling Top to Khulara

The trek from Gulling Top to Khulara is about 6 kms and will take us 5 hours to complete. We trek through green vegetation and red rhododendron flowers which turn red during the blooming season in April and May. The trail involves a steep ascent through the forest ridge of oak, rhododendron, spruce and silver birch and then to an open camping ground of Khulara. Overnight camp in tents.


Day 04 - Trek from Khulara to Gailgarh

We start after breakfast from Khulara camp and make our way through the forest lands towards Gailgarh. Today is a trek of about 3 hours which will be covered in 3 hours. Initial trail involves a steep ascent and as we continue our trek it becomes a more gradual one. in summer this place is a beautiful meadow covered fully with golden to bright green grass and in winters, this meadow becomes a spectacle white snow land to the farthest distance one can see.


Day 05 - Trek from Gailgarh to Pangarchulla Summit, back to Khulara

Today we will start the trek early as this is the longest day of the Pangarchulla trek. The total trekking distance is about 9 kms which will be covered in about 7 to 8 hours. It is a bit of challenging a steep climb. First leg of the trails a gradual ascend and then an arduous ascend to Pangarchulla Peak.  Pangarchulla Peak gives breath-taking 360-degree views of Garhwal Himalayas. At the summit point, you will get the awe-inspiring view of the Garhwal snow peaks in all their glory, especially Nanda Ghunti. The trek from here to Khulara will take us 3 hours. Overnight camp at Khulara


Day 06 - Trek from Khulara – Joshimath

After having breakfast, we trek down to Dhak and then drive back to Joshimath. On the way down from Khulara we will get to see the surrounding snow peaks and the same village trails. You will reach Joshimath by late afternoon. Overnight stay in guest house at Joshimath.


Day 07 - Drive from Joshimath to Haridwar

Today we start driving early to reach Haridwar with a beautiful mosaic of memories to keep us company. We would be reaching Haridwar around 6 pm and you can plan your onward journey after this time.

Registering for Pangarchulla Peak Trek

Eligibility: Is this Trek suitable for me?

Pangarchulla Peak Trek is graded as a challenging climb. This trek helps climbers to test their skills and improve their endurance. Such high-altitude climbs should not be underestimated, and climbers should approach the trek with proper training. We highly suggest that you start working on your fitness two months before the climb. Previous trekking experience is mandatory to sign up for the Pangarchulla Peak Trek. Excellent physical endurance, focus, and determination are required to complete the Pangarchulla Peak Trek successfully. Happy Climbing!

 

Offloading

Protrek Adventure highly recommends the participants to carry their personal backpacks by themselves. However, in case you are absolutely not able to carry the same and would like to offload, then you have to inform us during the booking process and pre-book the offloading. Each bag should not weigh more than 10 kgs. The bag should be of rucksack style only. Duffle bags would not be accepted for offloading. Kindly inform our booking office if you will need to offload your personal backpack for the Pangarchulla Peak trek.

Backpack Offloading Charges:

  • INR 1500/- if you make an online payment at the time of trip booking

  • INR 1800/- if you inform us after reaching Joshimath village

Advance Booking Amount 30%

We suggest that you book your Pangarchulla Peak trek at the earliest and confirm your slot. This also enables you to get a good deal on your to and fro flight tickets and organizing your trip efficiently. A booking confirmation will be sent by e-mail along with the payment instructions and other trip details. All payments have to be made through an online transfer/ cheque deposit/ demand draft. After the payment for the booking is done, please mail us your transfer details at info@protrekadventure.com so that we can follow up efficiently.

 

COVID-19 Full Travel Credits

After confirmation of the trip, if you cannot travel on the booked dates due to the COVID-19 travel restriction, you can postpone the trip to a future date whichever seems safe and suitable for you. You can choose any departure date that is convenient for you and we will offer a Full Travel Credit without applying any charge. Travel Credits can be redeemed on any trip which departs within 1 year of the original departure date. It cannot be redeemed for cash or cash equivalent. Travel credit can be transferred once to a friend or family member to be used against a new booking. The transfer is subject to our approval prior to the creation of the new booking.

HOW TO REACH

Pangarchulla Peak Trek

Haridwar is an important Hindu pilgrimage site in Uttarakhand, north India. The popular Har ki Pauri Ghat and evening Ganga Aarti are popular attractions here. It remains occupied by pilgrims round the year. Places of religious interests like Chandi Devi Temple, Mansa Devi Temple and Maya Devi Temple are worthy of a visit during one's stay in Haridwar.

 

By Air 
Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun serves as the nearest airport to Haridwar. You can take a direct flight to Dehradun from Mumbai or Delhi or connecting flights from anywhere in India. Local vehicles can be availed from outside the airport to reach Haridwar by road from Dehradun.

 

By Rail 
Haridwar railway station is well connected to all major cities and towns of India. There are a number of regular trains available which connects the pilgrimage town well with rest of India. It is directly linked with cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Dehradun, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Patna, Gaya, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Puri and Kochi by a good number of express trains.

 

By Road
Haridwar can be reached easily by road from Delhi, Haryana, UP, Punjab and other parts of Uttarakhand. A number of state transport and private buses connect Haridwar with these places. Bus service is available at frequent basis and fares are also economical. You can board these buses depending upon their suitable timing. There is regular bus service from Delhi to Haridwar, from Delhi ISBT Kashmiri Gate.
 

Protrek will arrange pick up from Haridwar Railway Station at 6:30 am, in Tata Sumo or similar vehicles. Alternatively, trekkers may wish to reach Rishikesh prior to the trek date for rafting activities. In those cases, Protrek can also arrange pick up from Rishikesh on trek date.
