Patalsu Peak is located within the close proximity of the picturesque Kullu valley. This trek boasts of its scenic beauty and enchanting appeal. The soaring peak makes for an ideal trekking destination and is also one of the most sought after trekking destinations in the region. With moderate to challenging gradients, it attracts a large number of trekkers from across the country. One is sure to get rewarded with promising views and an amazing experience in completing this trek. Patalsu Peak will take you to a maximum height of about 13,450 feet above sea level at the summit of Mount Patalsu. You first is a hike up to the famous Solang Valley. This place becomes a buzzing ski resort in the winter season. After camping the night on the banks of the Beas River, you resume Patalsu Peak trekking and meander through the mountains to the meadow of Shagadugh, a very pretty campsite. In the roughly 7 hours, for which you will keep on the trails the next day, you will scale Patalsu Peak and return to Shagadugh. You will then trek down to the Solang Valley and drive back to Manali.

Detailed Itinerary

Patalsu Peak Trek Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Manali. Drive to Solang Valley

The first day of the trek, reporting time in Manali before 10 am. Drive towards Solang Valley. The drive from Manali to Solang takes about an hour. From the valley, you will trek to the Solang Village, which is the first destination of the trek. Take the time to explore the village and get acclimatized to the weather. Overnight in camp.

 

Day 2 - Trek from Solang Nulla to Shagadugh camp

Today we trek from Solang Nulla to the beautiful meadow of Shagadugh. You will meander through mixed forests of oak and pine, and as you reach higher altitudes, you will see giant slopes of the Solang Valley. Here the pine and oak vegetation will be taken over by groves of deodar, and snowy mountains will be visible in the distance. You will continue hiking through the valley, and pass the village of Solang. After a long and grueling climb, you will reach Shagadugh. You will also get a beautiful glimpse of the Friendship Peak. Shagadugh is a lush alpine grassland where you will camp overnight.

 

Day 3 - Trek from Shagadugh camp to Patalsu Peak and back to Shagadugh 

Start trek early in the morning and proceed towards the captivating Patalsu Peak (4,220m). The meadow will soon end after the beginning of the trek and the forests will hit again. Trek through the lush and evergreen forests from the Shagadugh camp and trail through the winding and uneven terrains to reach the summit. You will find snow here, even if it is the months of summer. Arriving at Patalsu Peak, enjoy the panoramic views of the Hanuman Tibba, Deo Tibba, Shitidhar, Friendship peak, and mountains of Dhauladhar Ranges. Later in the day, start descending and retrace the path to the Shagadugh campsite.

 

Day 4 - Trek from Shagadugh to Solang Nulla. Drive from Solang Nulla to Manali

Today we descend from Shadgadugh back to the Solang Village. On reaching we start to drive towards Manali. Reaching time in Manali will be around 3 to 4 pm. Plan for your onward journey accordingly. You can book your travel anytime after 5 pm.

Registering for Patalsu Peak Trek

Eligibility: Is this Trek suitable for me?

Patalsu Peak Trek is graded as a challenging climb. This trek helps climbers to test their skills and improve their endurance. Such high-altitude climbs should not be underestimated, and climbers should approach the trek with proper training. We highly suggest that you start working on your fitness two months before the climb. Previous trekking experience is mandatory to sign up for the Patalsu Peak Trek. Excellent physical endurance, focus, and determination are required to complete the Patalsu Peak Trek successfully. Happy Climbing!

 

Offloading

Protrek Adventure highly recommends the participants to carry their personal backpacks by themselves. However, in case you are absolutely not able to carry the same and would like to offload, then you have to inform us during the booking process and pre-book the offloading. Each bag should not weigh more than 10 kgs. The bag should be of rucksack style only. Duffle bags would not be accepted for offloading. Kindly inform our booking office if you will need to offload your personal backpack for the Patalsu Peak Trek.

 

Trek Booking and Payment

Advance Booking Amount 30%

We suggest that you book your Patalsu Peak trek at the earliest and confirm your slot. This also enables you to get a good deal on your to and fro flight tickets and organizing your trip efficiently. A booking confirmation will be sent by e-mail along with the payment instructions and other trip details. All payments have to be made through an online transfer/ cheque deposit/ demand draft. After the payment for the booking is done, please mail us your transfer details at info@protrekadventure.com so that we can follow up efficiently.

 

COVID-19 Full Travel Credits

After confirmation of the trip, if you cannot travel on the booked dates due to the COVID-19 travel restriction, you can postpone the trip to a future date whichever seems safe and suitable for you. You can choose any departure date that is convenient for you and we will offer a Full Travel Credit without applying any charge. Travel Credits can be redeemed on any trip which departs within 1 year of the original departure date. It cannot be redeemed for cash or cash equivalent. Travel credit can be transferred once to a friend or family member to be used against a new booking. The transfer is subject to our approval prior to the creation of the new booking.

 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations are processed only by e-mail and refunds for the same are as follows:

 

Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the trek—90% refund
Cancellation between 30 days and 20 days to the start of the trek—50% refund
Cancellation less than 20 days to the start of the trek—no cash refund

By Air

Bhuntar airport located at a distance of 10 km from Manali. Flights are available from all the major cities. Taxi services are available from Bhuntar to Manali. Bhuntar is well connected to Delhi, Chandigarh by air

 

By Road

The Himachal Pradesh state bus service is ace and one can get frequent buses from the region to different parts of the country at a reasonable cost. The best and most cost-effective way to reach Manali is by road. Roads connect Manali to different places including Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, and Ambala. There are several private buses as well that connect the hill station with different parts of the state.

 

Protrek Adventure will arrange to pick up from Manali at 10 am. Please ensure that you reach before 9:30 am so that you do not miss our vehicle. Make your bus reservations to Manali accordingly.
