The Annapurna region located in Central Nepal is one of the most geographically and culturally diverse regions for trekking in the country. It has sub-tropical lowlands, stunning valleys, bamboo, oak, and rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, windswept desert plateaus, and the towering mountains. What else would an adventurer need! The Annapurna region has the world's deepest river gorge, Kali Gandaki.
Our journey to the Poon Hill starts from Kathmandu which is one of the busiest places in Nepal. The next day we drive to Pokhara from where our adventure begins! The Poon Hill Trek will make you fall in love with Nepal and its Himalayan Range; it’s so splendid and beautiful! Along with the Himalayan panorama, you will also get an opportunity to get close to the local culture of Nepal and interact with the people. The trail is a photographer's paradise so remember to carry your camera with you, as the pictures will later remind you of the amazing journey you undertook! Don’t forget to spot the striking panorama of huge Himalayas including Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, III, and IV, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu ranges.
Poon Hill Trek Itinerary
Day 01 - Drive at Kathmandu (1400m/4,95ft) and transfer to Hotel
Day 02 - Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (1400m/4,95ft) and Check-in to the Hotel
Day 03 - Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga (1580m/5,185ft)
Day 04 - Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2850m/9,350ft)
Day 05 - Trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3210m/10,532ft) and Trek back to Tadapani (2625m/8,615ft)
Day 06 - Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1950m/6,400ft)
Day 07 - Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara (1400m/4,95ft), Check-in to the Hotel
Day 08 - Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1400m/4,95ft) and check-in to the Hotel
Day 09 - Departure. Fly Back to Home!
Poon Hill Detailed Itinerary
Day 01 - Arrive at Kathmandu (1400m/4590ft). Rest and overnight in the hotel
A Protrek Adventure representative will be there to pick up from the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. We take a short drive from the airport to our hotel. After a short rest, we can visit Protrek Adventure's office and discuss the trek in detail. Our team will answer your questions regarding the trek and help you with any last-minute preparations. In the evening, we have delicious Nepalese cuisine at the welcome dinner hosted by Protrek Adventure. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02 - Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Trek briefing and overnight in the hotel
We drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara - briefing and trek preparation day. Pokhara is a beautiful lake city, which offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machapuchare, and five of the Annapurna Peaks. Enjoy the experiences this beautiful city has to offer and visit the popular nearby spots. Spend the day exploring the streets of Pokhara, with tantalizing aromas, bright colors, and the bustle of the local market, all set against the backdrop of the mountains. After a short briefing session with the team, the day is yours. The guide and our trek leader will make sure that your equipment is in place and might recommend any gear that needs to be purchased or rented.
Day 03 - Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga (1580m/5,185ft)
After an early breakfast start the drive towards Nayapul, the starting point for our trek. The drive will take roughly 2 hours. Our trek will start from Nayapul, we walk along the Modi Khola and follow the way through Birethanti (1015m), and Hille (1495m) to eventually reach Tikhedhunga (1589m). Overnight at Guesthouse/Teahouse.
Day 04 - Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2850m/9,350ft)
After Breakfast, we will start our trek from Tikhedhunga towards the steep climb to Ulleri (2070). You can intersperse into the large Magar settlements at Ulleri. From Ulleri, we ascend more gently through the fine forests of rhododendrons and oaks. After walking for a couple of hours from Banthanti, we eventually reach at Ghorepani. Overnight at Guesthouse/Teahouse.
Day 05 - Trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3210m/10,532ft) and Trek back to Tadapani (2625m/8,615ft)
Early in the morning today as we've to hike up to Poon Hill, probably the best viewpoint in the Annapurna Region. Here at Poon Hill, we catch the panorama of the beautiful peaks including the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Often been touted as the Photographer's Paradise, don't miss out to take some of the best snaps of this entire trip from Poon Hill during sunrise. That being said, sunset views from this hilltop are equally rewarding the phenomenal. Spend a few to at Poon Hill and then return back to Ghorepani. After having breakfast at Ghorepani, we again continue our walk towards Tadapani. Ascending towards Deurali, and descending again, we eventually reach at Tadapani. Overnight at Guesthouse/Teahouse.
Day 06 - Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1950m/6,400ft)
After Breakfast we will start our trek from Tadapani, we descend through the forests while following the trail to Ghandruk - aka the biggest Gurung settlement in the country. Take your time to explore the typical culture and lifestyle of ethnic Gurung people and interact with local people. Ghandruk also offers some of the magnificent views of mountains. Overnight at Guesthouse/Teahouse.
Day 07 - Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara
As today is going to be the final day for trekking, we slowly follow our trail back to Nayapul from Ghandruk. Once we reach at Nayapul, we can take a short drive back to Pokhara. Check-in to the hotel.
Day 08 - Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Rest and overnight in the hotel
We drive back to Kathmandu again. And once you are back in Kathmandu, you can take your remaining time for last-minute shopping or utilize the time exploring around the city. Join the Farewell dinner with the team in the evening and stay overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 09 - Depart from Kathmandu
A Protrek Adventure representative will drop you off at the airport. We are sure that you will be inspired to visit Nepal again after this trek. We hope that you choose us to plan your next trip to Nepal.

Registering for Poon Hill Trek
Eligibility: Is this Trek suitable for me?
Poon Hill Trek is graded as a challenging Trek. This trek helps climbers to test their skills and improve their endurance. Such high-altitude climbs should not be underestimated, and climbers should approach the trek with proper training. We highly suggest that you start working on your fitness two months before the climb. Previous trekking experience is mandatory to sign up for the Poon Hill Trek. Excellent physical endurance, focus, and determination are required to complete the Poon Hill Trek successfully. Happy Climbing!
Offloading
Protrek Adventure highly recommends the participants to carry their personal backpacks by themselves. However, in case you are absolutely not able to carry the same and would like to offload, then you have to inform us during the booking process and pre-book the offloading. Each bag should not weigh more than 10 kgs. The bag should be of rucksack style only. Duffle bags would not be accepted for offloading. Kindly inform our booking office if you will need to offload your personal backpack for the Poon Hill trek.

Advance Booking Amount 20%
We suggest that you book your Poon Hill trek at the earliest and confirm your slot. This also enables you to get a good deal on your to and fro flight tickets and organizing your trip efficiently. A booking confirmation will be sent by e-mail along with the payment instructions and other trip details. All payments have to be made through an online transfer/ cheque deposit/ demand draft. After the payment for the booking is done, please mail us your transfer details at info@protrekadventure.com so that we can follow up efficiently.

Cancellations are processed only by e-mail and refunds for the same are as follows:
Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the trek—90% refund
Cancellation between 30 days and 20 days to the start of the trek—50% refund
Cancellation less than 20 days to the start of the trek—no cash refund
